Okay, how many people are freaking out because PG&E has filed for Chapter 11 protection, and is now dealing with tens of thousands of property loss, and loss of life lawsuits?
It seems pretty obvious that the PUC is going to let PG&E raise their rates substantially, and add tens of billions to their customers' bills over the next year.
Some sources say they may be allowed to increase their rates as much as 78% in the next two years. Too big to fail, right?
Did you know that PG&E's sister company, SDG&E (San Diego) has just announced that they'll be raising their rates 34% over the next two years? That's going to be painful for many of their customers.
SCE (Southern California) is also trying to strip away consumers' rights; Net Metering V 3.0 may allow them to pay homeowners who go solar only wholesale rates for the power they store on the grid. In other words, instead of paying you 28 cents per kWh, you could be paid the wholesale rate of only 6 cents per kWh.
Their shareholders will make out like bandits on that one. You, on the other hand, will be giving up thousands of dollars you could have earned, if you'd gone solar just a few months earlier.
Solar is new to many consumers. For most solar clients, it's their very first time shopping for a product they really don't feel they understand.
But let me tell you this... once people decide they're ready to go solar, and give the green light to a solar company for the permitting and installation... they're as eager and excited as children on Christmas morning. They just can't wait until their installation is underway.
But... back to your current dilemma: California is federally mandated to go 33% clean energy by the end of 2020. And they're woefully behind.
Their answer is to raise your rates until you just can't afford to hold out any longer. Do you really want to hold off going solar... until you just don't have any other option?
Your utility bill is going to increase 34 to 78% in the next two years. After that, the federal tax credit will expire for going solar, so your utility company will raise your rates by 50 to 200%... because they can.
Question is... what can you do about it?
The answer is simple; just go Solar!
